Inspiration

Owls have long held a place in art, mythology, and storytelling — appearing across centuries as quiet emblems of wisdom, intuition, and transformation.

They sit between light and dark — watchful, still, and often associated with a deeper kind of knowing.

I’ve been returning to owls again and again in my work, using textiles to explore how they can carry their own meaning and story, adding another layer and texture to these familiar emblems.

Description

The Intuition Owl headdresses are printed in charcoal grey on gold lame, appliquéd with varying vintage sari trims either in; sun-bleached orange with gold motifs and large sequin embellishments, or brown, amber and gold embroidered motif.

All lined with floral block print cotton and adorned with pheasant feathers. Finished with brown satin ribbons.

Designed to be worn, moved in and displayed - they sit between adornment and artefact.

Materials and Techniques

Each piece is an original Animalesque illustration and design, screen-printed and handmade using a rich combination of surplus theatre materials, vintage sari silks and trims, and Indian block printed cotton and bandhani silks.

Handmade in Cornwall by textile artist Sara Lowes.

Due to the handmade nature of Animalesque creations, there will be slight discrepancies between each piece. Every one is unique.

This design comes in one size

Each headdress ties around the head with ribbons, making them adjustable to fit all head shapes and sizes. The owl looks great on both kids and adults.

Measurements: 13cm by 12cm. Feather length: 8-10cm. Ribbon length 50cm
